Decisions

I've made a decision.  I've decided to skip trying to make the old type of Funny the World entries, but just start a new one on Blogger.  So this is Entry #1 of the new Funny the World. (Pay no attention to the date on this entry)

With my inability to find something similar to what I used before, and knowing that I don't learn new software as easily as I used to, plus the fact that I can't remember how I used to post entries, it just seems that since I have this lovely Blogger available, I'll just use that. The domain "Funny the World" will remain since it's the only way I can keep my 20 years of entries on line.

In a week I will be 80 years old and it feels like so many things are "new" though I couldn't list them for you....but the new FTW would top the list if I had a list.  I have missed typing an entry every day and though I can't have an "index" page like I had before, you can check this page every day and see if there is a new entry.  I hope to get back to writing daily again.

(I don't know why I didn't think of this idea months ago!)

Now if only I could find a photo program.  I've tried several but none is as easy as PhotoShop and I sorely miss PhotoShop!

We are preparing a birthday month celebration.  Today we are going to see 80 for Brady, which I've read reviews of that were not very good, but it just seemed to be something I wanted to do to celebrate my 80th.

We will be going out to dinner to celebrate my birthday and Walt's and then on the 18th we are having a gathering at Fenton's with about a dozen people.  Crab salad sandwich .... yummm!  and then it will be Walt's birthday.  If I think of turning "80" as being old, I think of Walt who will turn 83.  At some point  there will be a family Zoom.

I've been sleeping surprisingly well lately.  Oh, I never go to sleep at night and wake up in the morning but I've started going to sleep at 10 on the couch under a big fluffy quilt.  I wake up just after midnight.  Then I sit up for half an hour, posting videos to 1 Second Every Day and then do the new Wordle.  By then I'm ready to sleep on the couch again.  I will sleep for an hour or  two and then I'm ready to move to the family room and climb into the recliner.  Sometimes I watch TV (if it's 3 a.m. or after), sometimes I listen to podcasts.  I generally wake up around 6, often when Bubba leaps into my lap, but don't try to go back to sleep so am surprised when I look at the clock and it's 8 a.m.  Then I have a one hour nap after I eat lunch, so I'm actually getting more sleep now than I have in a very long time.

(and haven't you missed FTW entries about my sleep habits?)

So here we are.  Funny the World is back, sorta, and I hope people can find it.

A New Site?

Well, despite hours of trying, I haven't been able to "fix" Front Page and while I can still design pages, I can't do them the way I used to.  I'm thinking of moving to blogger, which most people seem to use.  I have several blogger sites already but moving Funny the World would be a very big deal.  I have to keep paying Google for my domain to keep all the past 20+ years of entries on line.

I checked out blogger and "Funnytheworld.blogspot.com" is not available.  It is a page with "Good morning Vietnam" on it and no entries.

I tried funnytheworldcom.blogspot.com and that is available, so I've registered it in case I decide to move to blogspot.

It would make doing the entries easier, but I will miss finding the right background each month.  It seems that most of the Saturday 9 and Sunday Stealing people all use blogspot.

I'm going to kind of fiddle around with "funnytheworldcom" for a few weeks, with the idea that I might switch over to the new site on the first of the year.

Of course, a miracle might happen and I might actually be able to fix whatever I did to Front Page and then everything would be fine.  But I suspect that ain't gonna happen.

I seem to be sleeping, finally.  Of course, being me I am not sleeping the  way normal people sleep.  I still have insomnia most of the night, but if I go to the bathroom around 5, I feed Polly and then get back into the recliner and have slept as late as 11 a.m.  (of course this cuts into our 10 a.m. walk).  But I seem to be routinely getting 5-6 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period, with a 1 hour nap at some other time.  It ain't good, but it's better.  I'm feeling better...and getting a walk each day (even though it's only been 2 days!) is making my legs feel better too.

Polly finally had her nails clipped today.

It took about a month from the time I called to make an appointment until they could see her.  Ned was able to cut the longest nails, which kept getting caught in her bed, but now they are all nice and short.

I can't believe I slept all night last night.  I fell asleep between 8 and 8:30, got up twice during the night to go to the bathroom, and woke up at 8:15!  I turned on The Blacklist on Netflix, which was without commercials and would go from one episode to the next without stopping and I don't think I saw more than 5 minutes of each episode of that.

Of course this probably means I won't sleep at all tonight, but how great to have slept such a long time last night.

I usually enjoy the Halloween shows that the morning shows present, The Today Show and Kelly and Ryan

I only saw the last 15 mnutes of The Today Show because I slept late, but I didn't find anything interesting in the costumes.  Two of the men were football players; two of the women were cheerleaders.  Maybe it had something to do with how they were presented earlier in the show, but I found nothing fun about them.

Things really haven't been as much fun since Matt Lauer left.  The costumes he and Al Roker wore were always the highlight of the day.

Then Kelly and Ryan supposedly had 40 different costumes, and I either didn't understand them at all, or thought they were boring.  I think my problem is I either don't watch enough TV or don't pay attention enough.  They had a blend of Ted Lasso and Bridgerton and while I have watched both shows, I didn't get whatever they were doing.

I did get the tribute to The Queen's Gambit, though.

We have no costumes, of course, but I did get pictures from Tom of Brianna's costume.

My reaction was ...  She's not THAT old yet, is she?  But, at 13, I guess she is. The necklace around her neck says "Boy toy."
