toys

We have had a lot of dogs throughout our lives, but other than Seymour (one of our first dogs), who was addicted to tennis balls, none of our dogs has had any interest in toys.  Seymour was so addicted to balls that she spent a week, one time, trying to get under the couch in the family room.  She was acting like there was a ball there and we moved the couch to show her there was not.  Finally, we moved the couch and the rug and by golly there was a little ball--like the size of a ball to play jacks, under the rug.  After we removed it, she never tried to get under the couch again.

But now we have Bubba, and Bubba is into toys.  When we got him, he brought a stuffed animal with him and he would race around the house shaking his head with that animal in his mouth.  I think Marta took him to Petco and let him choose a stuffed animal and he found one that was more his size.

It has a squeaker and sometimes he can make it squeak, but other times not.  But he carries it with him a lot of the time.  He almost always carries it with him into the family room when we are having dinner and he jumps into either my chair or Walt's chair and when you go to sit down, the toy is stuffed in the side of the chair.

He also has a toy that Ned and Marta put food in and he likes to carry that around too, even if he has removed all the food.

But the white toy is definitely his favorite.  Almost every morning when I get up to go to the bathroom, the toy is on the floor of the family room and I steer my walker around it, or over it.  It definitely needs to be washed, but I'm afraid that he will be upset if it doesn't smell right.  I have to admit that having a dog who likes toys is a lot of fun
