It's days like this when I miss some of the journalists/bloggers who are no longer with us. People who started writing around the time I did, who understand what a big day this is.
Well, TODAY is not the big day, but two days ago was.
I have now written over 8,600 entries in Funny the World, How I miss having my own URL and being able to design my pages, but better than nothing, BlogSpot is free, and easy to use.
When I think back over 24 years (started March, 2000) it's amazing the things I have written about. I started after David and Paul died, so you can't find what I wrote at the time of their death. but when I lost 85 lbs, I had >1,000 people who followed my entries. Now, if the numbers are to be believed, I have fewer than a dozen. But I still keep writing, hoping than dozens/hundreds of people check this blog out.
Of course these days there's very little interesting happening in my life. I don't have shows to talk about, since I don't review shows any more (and won't any more, since I told the current critic that I didn't want to have anything to do with the Enterprise). We don't go on trips, so there are no marvelous trip diaries that I kept religiously. We don't foster dogs any more, so there are no stories (and pictures) of the cute dogs (especially puppies) living with us.
What I do now is write letters, read books, and watch TV...and how can I make a daily interesting blog entry out of that??
I'm going to study Bob Dunning's entries as he moves forward in his new life and see if I can get any good ideas for making this blog interesting enough that people want to read it every day again. As far as I know, my regular readers are Walt, Ned, Jeri, and Char.

PHOTO OF THE DAY
Count me in as a regular daily reader! I've been following you for years . . . maybe before the infamous bicycle debacle! Please keep writing . . . I so enjoy it (even if we are polar opposites in politics. laughing!). Joan / Georgetown, Texas
ReplyDeleteI'm a regular! I found you again from Holidailies a couple of years ago. You have a gift for story telling even if it is only about dinner that Ned made. Glad you are not giving up.
ReplyDeleteAnd me! Now that I know you're writing again I check in every day (even though it shows I'm from Redmond, which is sort of kind like my real town's name).
ReplyDeleteCount me in as one of your readers. Keep up the good work!
