Now THAT's Funny!

We actually went out to a show on Friday.  Second time this month!  It's almost like being "normal" again.

The show was a one-man comedy by Jack Gallagher, a Sacramento comedian.

Jack is a comedian we've seen three other times at theatres in Sacramento.  I wrote an article about his rather unusual show in 2017 and I was quite eager to see this new show, 6 years later.

While I described him as a "Sacramento comedian" he actually has a very extensive biography, which includes being a character on shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm and Cheers, and a guest on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson (3 times) and Conan O'Brien.

It was such fun.  Ned's co-partner on their radio show is Clyde Bowman (father of one of Ned's good friends), who has decided to work on comedy (he's been an actor and singer in community theater when he was younger).  He has been getting tips from Gallagher and so Clyde and his family were there and it was nice to sit with them.

Jack does a lot of comedy about growing old.  Walt especially appreciated all of his funny stuff about prostate health, since Walt had been through that a couple of years ago.  Funny thing is that I found him on YouTube doing the same bit.  At the show we saw he started it by admitting that he is now 70...and in the YouTube video I found he started by admitting that he is now 60.  Obviously the comedy holds up after 10 years!

His audience was definitely in the right age group for his old age comedy.  I only saw two or three people that were probably younger than 50.  (Younger folks were probably at the university's Whole Earth Festival, where Ned was working).  I knew this was going to be good when he started by explaining the difference between getting out of bed when you are 30 and getting out of bed when you are 50!

The End

I started Funny the World in March of 2000 and for most of its life wrote daily entries for nearly 25 years.  But I've decided that it...
