I don't understand what is going on in Washington. It seems like the primary purpose of the Republicans is to punish the Democrats. With the threat of the default of the country, they were starting the trial to impeach Biden -- with no evidence and no witnesses. But that was more important than ending the stalemate over the budget. Then when McCarthy manages to get the budget solved for the moment, he is fired and now they are talking about asking Donald Trump??? to be Speaker (Chris Christie says Trump won't take the job because it means he'd have to work).
As McCarthy left, he left instructions to have Nancy Pelosi removed from her office so that whoever comes in as Secretary of State can use that office. Pelosi was not able to remove her things from her office because she is in California attending the funeral of Diane Feinstein.
Democrats have asked for a delay in voting so they, too, can attend Feinstein's funeral, but that request was denied by Patrick McHenry, who is the temporary Secretary of State until they find a permanent one.
It just seems that the main thing Republicans in the House want to do is find a way to stick it to Democrats.
And then there is Trump making these wild accusations. Any judge or attorney that goes against him is suddenly a criminal who should be disbarred, even if his long career is spotless. And the accusation that the clerk in Judge Engoron's office is somehow romantically connected to Chuck Schumer?
When did the politicians stop actually working for us people and start trying to work against the "other side." And good lord, whoever would want to go into government these days???
